Vasileios Kalantzis is the IBM algorithms lead for the MIT-IBM Computing Research Lab, as well as a senior manager and senior research scientist at IBM Research, where he leads the mathematics and optimization strategy across IBM’s global research labs, with a focus on quantum algorithms and quantum systems. Prior to his current role, he managed the High-Performance Algorithms group, where he led the efforts to transform mathematical insights into deployable computational capabilities.

He joined IBM Research as a Herman H. Goldstine Memorial Postdoctoral Fellow and has received several IBM Research and best-paper awards. Kalantzis received his PhD and MSc from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and his MSc and MEng from the University of Patras, Greece.
